In its fifth season, which ran from October 2022 until April 2023, the Bahr Alolom Forum announced its intention to discuss the challenges of water scarcity and the climate change in Iraq under the project(Iraq’s Thirst).

Today, Iraq faces a serious water and environmental crisis that has worsened with climate change due to global warming, which has led to drought and desertification and leads to dire consequences.

Perhaps the most prominent example today is the drought that struck the marshes of southern Iraq.

The outcomes of the discussions that began in August 2022 was the holding of meetings with executive and competent authorities, environmental and water resource experts, and academics from inside and outside Iraq, and the outcome of these discussions, conferences, and workshops were published reports.
